Research Led Architecture //

A spatial critique of the progressively passive manner in which Architectural practice currently operates across the urban assemblages of London.

Speculative Architecture

The project manoeuvres between four sites, with specifically calibrated Architectures responding to emerging, yet derogated urban dis-comforts. Each intervention traverses both psychological and spatial territories of discomfort; understood as dynamic shifts from an inhabitant’s datum.

Complex conditions of security, ownership, employment and voyeurism are simultaneously pursued and facilitated, opposing conventional acts of rectification/resolution.

Divided by Deptford High St, sites to the west establish creative studios, mirrored by sites to the east, distorting notions of domestic space. Accumulatively, these incidents generate a spatial toolset for the Deptford-designer to redefine the duality of a creative live/work environment through Architectures of disruption.

This generates a critical commentary on passive methodologies employed in Architectural practice, whilst fabricating new spatial tactics through unexplored, creative and provocative contexts of discomfort.
